Kathleen O’Reilly Johnston has a passion for writing. She lives in country Western Australia where she mentors youth at risk of homelessness. She also works as a patient care assistant for the aged. Kathleen believes we are wired for story and that story is a way to connect more deeply with others.
Despite early doubts about her ability to read, and an alarming rate of school absenteeism, Kathleen became an avid reader. She credits a love of literature as the catalyst for her self directed learning that took place along the beautiful West Australian coast.
Kathleen is the mother of three adult children and two grandchildren. When not at work or writing, she enjoys riding her horse around historic ruins. If you see someone riding a white horse over Slaughterhouse Bridge on a stormy day, that’s Kathleen.
Her first book ‘Johno’ is due to be published in 2026.
